Alison Krauss (born in July 23, 1971 in Decatur, Illinois), is a bluegrass singer and virtuoso fiddle player who grew higher around Champaign, Illinois. Krauss has experienced many platinum-selling albums, has received xvii Grammy Awards (more than any more woman in the history of the Grammys), & been the featured performing artist in the Oscars. Inside 1995 she was awarded Female Vocalist of the Year per Country Music Association.

The protégé of Bill Monroe, her music has wide appeal, beyond its traditional popularity within united states & folk circles. Better known for her function on the O Brother, Where Art Thou? movie soundtrack, when well as its companion album, Down from the Mountain, Krauss's music is also featured conspicuously on the Cold Mountain soundtrack, for which she was nominated for an Oscar. Her band, Union Station, occurs as traditional bluegrass ensemble, however Krauss is non a complete purist, with cover version by, among others, the Beatles. Union Station come: Barry Bales (bass, harmony vocals), Ron Block (banjo, guitar, lead & harmony vocals), Jerry Douglas (dobro), and Dan Tyminski (acoustic guitar, mandolin, lead & harmony vocals).
